Painter born and died in ARRAS, he studied at the Ecole d'Art de Douai, then at the Beaux-Arts de Paris in Eugène Narbonne's studio, one year after his illustrious predecessor Bernard Buffet, and can be likened to the group of "rebellious" post-war painters who refused the dictates of abstraction.
