JACEK HAZUKA (1959-), Place Ipswich, Arras Mixed... - Lot 256 - Artois Enchères
JACEK HAZUKA (1959-), Place Ipswich, Arras Mixed media on canvas. Signed lower right. 46 x 33 cm. A well-known symbol of the town of Arras, the red telephone booth was reinstalled on the Ipswich square in January 2023! The phone booth was donated by the town of Ipswich in 1992 when the twinning agreement was signed. It was transformed into a book box by Jacques le Caron high school students in 2018. But what will it be used for from now on? According to the town, the red cabin will no longer be a book box, "it will regain its decorative function". The painting was created by Jacek Hazuka, a Polish-born artist born in 1959, who studied at the Fine Arts High School in Tarnow, as well as nude drawing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. In 1981, he left Poland for Belgium, before moving to Paris and Lille in France. Jacek Hazuka is the painter of cities; he holds the science, the secret. Over the years, his figurative style has asserted itself at the frontier of abstraction, a "landscape abstraction" evoked by art historian Jean Luc Chalumeau. He has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions (Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, France). His work can be found in private collections in Europe, North America, Asia and Australia.
