René PROU (attributed to) Pair of bergères in stained varnished wood, created for the lounge cars of the Pullmann Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits (CIWL), with high, slightly curved backs flanked by small rounded ears on either side, straight armrests with detached flat cuffs finished with scrolls. Corner base with grooved front legs and saber-shaped back legs. Seat bases, armrests and backrests entirely covered with fabric in a diamond pattern on a sky-blue background (redone identically). Height 115 cm - length 70 cm - depth 64 cm (seat depth: 54 cm) History: designed for the Pullman lounge cars of the Compagnie des Wagons-Lits.
